Working for M4N’s JDevelopment department is working with a professional development team that develops its own web application. We occupy the larger part of the 8th floor of the former Parool tower, with a panoramic view over the whole of Amsterdam. However, our developers also work from the comfort of their own homes, be it in Amsterdam or from remote locations such as China.

Via IM and our internal mailing lists we’re constantly in contact with each other. The office doesn’t have any cubicles or other means of separating desks; for question or discussions about technical problems you just walk to the desk of the person in question. For more intensive meetings there are various smaller rooms available. Within the open space of our office the developers do have their own department though, that allows for a certain tranquillity and concentration to work on new features for our system.
